Across the spectrum of generations, there are countless changes that occur leaping from one to another. From various shifts in what society deems appropriate pertaining to generalized values, to less important aspects such as clothing, there are many differences between generations. However, over the past two decades, one element got thrown into the mix that had not been much of a factor in past generational changes; technology.
While advancements in technology have been prevalent throughout history, only recently has it reached a historic level, having drastic changes on the way we interact with one another. Below are two of the most prominent technological developments that have contributed to the change in how we interact with one another.
Mobile Devices
The development of mobile devices has been a large factor in shifting the way in which we interact. More times than not it seems, people prefer to communicate through text messages, or remotely than face to face. There have even been instances of people standing next to one another, texting each other instead of talking. While some people might consider this development in communication a negative one for these reasons, it is an extremely popular advancement that has drastically shifted the effectiveness of communication.
The Internet
The Internet, or web as many refer to it as, is among one of the most widely tapped resources in the world. People log on to do things such as research information, as well as communicate. There are many avenues to take when it comes to communicating over the Internet. From simple chatting, to remote camera to camera communication, the options are many, and growing.
